he mission of Family and Consumer Sciences is to strengthen families and empower individuals to take action for the well-being of self and others in the home, workplace, community and the world.

Career Discovery

The purpose of this course is to provide students preliminary experiences with skills related to a variety of careers. Course content will consist of instruction in making career choices, basic employability skills that relate to content extracted from any family and consumer sciences exploratory course including the development of leadership and organization skills within the program. -Students apply the following learning experiences:

  • -Academic skills as they relate to the workplace.
  • - Identify desirable personal and work ethics.
  • - Develop interpersonal skills for personal and career success.
  • - Demonstrate team player skills.
  • -Demonstrate employability skills.
  • - Demonstrate critical thinking skills and application of the decision making process as it relates to personal and work situations.
  • - Recognize and demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • - Identify appropriate dress for job experience.
  • - Demonstrate basic food preparation skills.
  • - Apply principles of meal planning.
  • - Practice successful resource management techniques and demonstrate leadership and organizational skills in the Workplace
