Middle School Enrichment Program
Registration
Your child must be completely registered before participating in the L.I.F.E Program. A complete registration includes the following:
(1) Registration Card – Emergency contact information is very important, as parents will be contacted by telephone if there is a problem. Don’t forget to sign and date the card.
(2) L.I.F.E. Handbook Acknowledgement Form – This handbook detailing program policies, financial responsibility, student conduct, and program requirements will be given to each participant. The student and parent must sign an acknowledgement form. This form acknowledges that the participants and their parents will adhere to the policies of the L.I.F.E. Program.
(3) Student Accident Insurance –This insurance policy covers the student while he/she is on school grounds. Even if you have your own health insurance, purchase of this policy is mandatory for participation in the L.I.F.E. Program.

Snacks
A nutritious afternoon snack will be provided daily by the school cafeteria. Snacks will include milk or juice, and various foods will be served such as fresh fruit, cheese & crackers, packaged cookies, sandwiches, and baked goods. Please notify the L.I.F.E Program office if your child has any food allergies or if nutritional alternatives are necessary.
Student Accident Insurance
This insurance policy covers the student while he/she is on school grounds. Even if you have your own health insurance, purchase of this policy is mandatory for participation in the L.I.F.E. Program. Checks or money orders (no cash) should be made payable to: Hartford Life Insurance Company. The insurance form must be completed and signed. There is a one-time cost for a full school year of coverage.
6th grade students $6.00
7th and 8th grade students $9.00
Program scheduling
The L.I.F.E. Program will offer a variety of activities that are both academic and recreational. There will be one (1) required activity and several electives to choose from. Students will choose from the electives offered and be placed, according to availability and eligibility.

Required Activities
Language Arts and Mathematics Classes
Language Arts and Mathematics classes will be provided daily. These classes will be FCAT based, to enable the students to perform better in the classroom and on standardized tests. Students will be placed in classes based on ability and/or grade level.

Elective Activities
Home Learning Lab:
Home Learning Lab is available daily. It is a quiet place for students to study, complete home learning assignments, and work on special projects. Home Learning questions will be answered and basic assistance will be offered. However, tutoring will not be offered during home learning lab. Any behavior problems or disruptions during home learning lab will be referred to the office, in order to provide the remaining students with the silence they need to complete assignments.
Recreational Sports Activities:
Students will be offered the opportunity to participate in sports activities. Activities such as basketball, soccer, kickball, and football will be offered during this time. Students must participate and cannot sit out unless a doctor’s note is provided. If there is a medical reason why the student cannot participate, the student will be sent to home learning lab until he/she is able to return to sports activities.
Recreational Indoor Activities:
Board games, individualized projects, and socializing with friends will all be components of this session.
Art:
Art workshops will be conducted using a variety of media. Artwork will be exhibited. Students will be provided with basic materials. Additional art materials may be purchased by students.
Computers:
Students will surf the web, learn more about the Internet, complete “mini” projects, and learn different software applications. Faculty supervision and guidance will be included.
Dance:
Modern dance, ballet, and jazz will be introduced in this activity. Appropriate dance clothes will be discussed with the students. Students are responsible for “dressing out” for dance activities.
Drama:
Improvisation, reading plays, acting out scenes, and character study will be included in this activity.
Home Economics:
Students will learn household economics, nutrition, how to plan meals, and cook different foods. They will be working in a kitchen setting and supervised by a faculty member. There is a $15.00 per month additional fee for this course.

Office Aide:
Assisting with the daily operation of the L.I.F.E. Program while learning valuable clerical, administrative, and organizational skills will give students hands-on experience. Teacher recommendations and parent permission are mandatory; the student must provide three (3) teacher recommendations to apply for this activity.
Teacher Aide:
Assisting the L.I.F.E. Program teachers will create an opportunity to learn valuable communication and organizational skills. Teacher recommendations and parent permission are mandatory; the student must provide three (3) teacher recommendations and have a 3.0 grade point average to apply for this activity.
